Bridging Generations: A Reflection on Queer Narratives
In 2023, we brought together 10 young and 10 elder queer individuals to foster intergenerational discussions, exploring the shared and unique experiences that shape their identities. The process involved documenting personal narratives through video and photography, covering topics such as coming out, navigating
growing up, and current realities of being queer.
Each pair then engaged in recorded discussions and their first in-person meetings, initiating in-depth dialogues with identities closely aligned with their own. Conversations delved into the nature and locations of intergenerational discussions for queer individuals in our society. The recorded dialogues became the backdrop for a series of unique performances.
DURATIONAL DUETS AT ARoS MUSEUM
Within a small mirror room installation at ARoS Museum, each pairing engaged in a durational exchange, looking into each other’s eyes and, in turn, into the eyes of the audience. This series of 10 duets unfolded as a captivating installation throughout June 2023.
COLLECTIVE PERFORMANCE AT HORSENS TEATER FESTIVAL
In September 2023, we convened all the pairs involved in the Home Queer Home: Generations project for the first time. It marked the inaugural collective performance of the entire group engaging in a unified edition of their dialogues. The outcome was a profoundly intimate work, shedding light on the visibility and representation of queer identities across generations.
