THE QUEER QUILT - Unveiling Unity
In 2023, we orchestrated a unique and powerful gathering, bringing together 127 queer individuals from Aarhus city. Collectively, they sprawled across the lower level of ARoS Museum, weaving a quilt of diverse bodies and identities. This living tapestry emerged as a visual symphony, a portrayal of community and interconnectedness.
From the upper balconies, museum spectators looked down upon the mesmerizing durational installation. Simultaneously, 127 short testimonies resonated through the museum halls, each voice contributing to the collective narrative on the significance of visibility and presence in public spaces. The chorus of voices echoed, harmonizing as these individuals united to craft an artwork embodying solidarity, community, and the imperative of visibility.
As the installation concluded, the 127 participants elevated their voices in unison, creating a sustained vocal hum that reverberated through the space. Through sound, image, and shared energy, they manifested visibility collectively.
This community engagement art project became a focal point of the Aarhus Pre-Pride warm-up events, a testament to the collaborative synergy between HOME QUEER HOME and ARoS Museum.
