100 gay voices, a global Performance, Exhibition and Archive about, desire, and visibility.
DADDIES is a bold performance, exhibition, and digital archive created between 2026 2028. The project is co-produced with Åbne Scene at Godsbanen in Aarhus, where HIMHERANDIT PRODUCTIONS are in-house artists from 2026–2029, with additional support from Bora Bora – dans og visuelt teater, where the company are associate artists. The work is already funded by the Danish Arts Council.
As the project develops, we are actively building new international partnerships to realise its full scale and bring it to audiences worldwide. We are seeking additional co-producers, touring partners, residency opportunities, and recruitment support from theatres, venues, and LGBTQIA+ organisations to support local citizen participation in each host city.
DADDIES brings together the voices of 100 gay men aged 40+ from every continent, exploring aging, desire, masculinity, and visibility, and asking what it means not only to come out, but to stay — in the body, in desire, and in the world. Blending live performance, citizen participation, striking visual design, and archival material, DADDIES transforms lived experience into a visceral theatrical encounter. One professional performer carries the 100 voices on stage, joined by 20 local gay men aged 40+, who share the space in collective movement as the testimonies unfold. Their physical participation embodies endurance,
resilience, and the ongoing life of queer men over 40.
Alongside the performance, an exhibition and online archive allow audiences to engage with the full-length interviews. DADDIES exists across multiple formats: live performance, exhibition, and digital platform, enabling presentation in theatres, museums, galleries, and site-specific contexts. The formats can stand independently or be presented together, offering flexibility while extending the reach of the work internationally.
