Hut

2006

Hut is a four screen video installation that displays an isolated primal man made hut, an aggressive frosty waterfall, a cloudy sky moving at high speeds and a wind turner spinning frantically out of control.

The work leaves a sense of desolation and abandonment as spectators are left with a cold and vulnerable feeling when standing in between the four suspending screens that are hung around them in an open square.

The square of screens echoes the architectural design of the hut. The work uses natural elements to manifest tension in space and to provoke the primitive and instinctive fear of natural disaster and catastrophe.

The installation is left open for interpretation and can also be seen as a metaphor for the inner landscape of the self.
