The Home Maker
Submitted for 60 Seconds Dance competition 2011
Created by Andreas Constantinou

The concept of the piece has its roots in the Docile Bodies exhibition from HIMERANDIT which toured the UK and Ireland.
The work explores stereotypical attitudes towards woman and their socially enforced place as home makers. The work visualizes the effect of a chauvinistic culture portraying an attitude of superiority toward members of the opposite sex.
The Home Maker is choreographic in its form of combined, movement, action, sound and rhythmic editing.
This video was selected from 160 entries in the 60 Seconds Dance competition for the final 30, and then again for the final 10 places.
It has since been shown at the Cinemateque of the DFI (Danish Film Institute), on DR K (Danish National Broadcasting TV Culture Channel), various online dance related sites, on a DVD for international distribution to Screendance Festivals, Dance Houses, CPH PIX, Danish Embassies as well as on monitors in the Asta Bar foyer at the DFI and in the Dansehallerne Foyer.
