You Are Making: Kunst
2010 - 2013
You are making: Kunst is an interactive multi medium contemporary art installation that weaves together a magnificent blend of performance, video art and spectator participation.
This art installation surprises and fascinates its spectators by engaging them in an environment that is both fun and yet revealing. People play and become the artists themselves as they create their own artwork live in the black box.
You are making: Kunst has proved itself time and again to be very popular, with many spectators failing in love with the space and spending much longer than they expected exploring the possibilities.
About You are making: Kunst
Spectators become uninhibited as they are given a huge blank canvas, two nude bodies, paints and paint brushes amongst other
tools to create their own communal masterpiece. People twist and turn as they engage in making their own aesthetic and moral choices through their creative process whilst contributing to the over all installation.
You are making: Kunst is deeply informed by ideas of aesthetics and the nature of creation.
In this work the artists’ quite literally present their bodies as bare-naked canvases on which audiences can paint, transform and alter in anyway they wish with the surrounding objects in the space. The objects include; paints, paintbrushes, flour, feathers, tin foil and papers and so on. Audiences are then asked to be the artists themselves and to create their own art experiences, allowing them to be as free as they wish.
By doing so, the work creates an environment of sensory-emotional values in which to play, provoking situation that causes audiences to subconsciously make decisions informed by their own tastes, sentiments and judgements.
The work guides people in to being intuitive in their creative process, allowing them space and time to reflect on what they are making and the nature of creation itself.
You are making: Kunst provides audiences with a strong experience that nurtures and encourages choice making, action and contribution towards determining what the final result will look like.
