You Are Making: Live Art Laboratories

2014 - Annually

You are making:is a yearly live art laboratory that focuses on the development of interactive experiential performance happenings.  This annual project connects Performing Arts, Visual art and music through live performance experiments.

Aims of the Laboratory

This laboratory aims to develop the practice of Live art in Aarhus utilizing the cross aesthetics of performance, visual art and interactive art. The project aims to create new artistic expressions through experimentations and to create a platform for discussion about the development and future of live art processes in Aarhus. To achieve this the laboratory ignites platforms and performances that will host discussions between artists from different artistic backgrounds, key stake holders and cultural institutions in Aarhus.

Throughout the world we see a revival in live art, with Marina Abromivic performing in MOMA, The Tate Modern opening “The Tanks” and a performance piece reaching the finalists of The Turner Prize, but Aarhus is falling behind, with live art noticeable only by its absence from the galleries of ARoS or other key artistic centres. This project is aimed at bringing cultural and artistic diversity to the city, with a cross disciplined approach that will attract new audiences and responds to the thirst for new, experimental approaches.
